The short story is after I adopted my daughter in 2012 I decided to do something for the country that gave me my most precious and valuable gift, my daughter!
We have no normal anymore, or our normal is far different from most other people. We wake up and eat breakfast, I head to the orphanage or to meeting and she is currently home school by a teacher from the USA, and this is all that is normal about tour life!. Ruby and I chat most nights….she hears about the kids with disabilities that we have, who is sick or even if one tragically dies. She has been exposed to all sorts of things here that living in the West she would not have experienced. Most nights end with a talk about her biological mum, this is her topic of choice at nearly 7 years old. We talk about what she may look like, what Ruby has, like her nose, that is the same as her “tummy mummy”.
Our days can be hectic but we love being here even with all the non Western conveniences.
My daily mantra is the quote “These are be best of times, these are the worst of times”. Life can change in 2 seconds over here from being so happy we got a child to hospital on time, to hearing that the child has died and feeling like I should have done more!
The clothes that have meaning. They are not just super cool clothes but they mean something.
I just caught a mouse and it scared the crap out of me but it scared me more being in the house with it!!!
Deborah Sfez, is one of the coolest stylist we know, she is showing her amazing work on her instagram and we love to be inspired.
According to us you are one of the absolutely best stylist in the world, what inspires you?
Thanks so much for your lovely words, that’s so nice to read. I’m very lucky as I get to travel a lot for work but also on weekends & holidays. I just can’t get enough of exploring the world and get figidy if my next trip isn’t planned. I source inspiration in many things: people, food, books, landscapes, magazines, smells, music… I am very curious.
Working in your field where its all looks very glamorous, how do you stay grounded?
I have always found the kids fashion industry different from the fashion industry in general. Being around kids is so much fun that you don’t get sidetracked by the glamorous side of this field. When I arrive on set, I always make sure to get to know the kids before we start the shooting and spend the day with them as a normal day. I just want to make sure they have fun!
How did you first here about Gardner and the gang?
I met Gardner and the Gang at Playtime Paris a few years ago. I remember discovering their inspiring collection, with vibrant colors and unique prints, it stood out from all the rest and became my crush of the season!
Last words, your favorite quote or words to live by.
Things happen for a reason, if it’s meant to be, it will be.
Something insanely cool you want to share with the gang

The fun and bright account belonging to Sweetheart Valentina and her family was something that immediately caught our eyes. The fun way of portraying kids fashion is right up our alley...
We Love @valentina_and_the_gang
You and your kiddos are a huge inspiration to many parents in the social media world of instagram. How did you start your account and what is it that made it so successful?
Our Instagram account was originally just an account for our family and friends who live far away, to follow us and keep in touch and see photos of the kids. I have always loved all fashion especially children’s and when my son was 3 I was struggling to find clothes that were cool in stores so I searched online and came across Hipkin Kids... I fell in love instantly. They had the style I was looking for and the quality of the products was superb. Fast forward to 2018, my youngest daughter Valentina (2.5 at the time) became really fun to photograph as she has a big personality... a few friends suggested we enter the brand rep competition for Heylittle Store... and we did and won! The rest is history. We have grown our account organically and reached 4K followers in 6 months. It’s taken a lot of work and I’ve really had to improve my photography skills but it’s been so much fun!
In a fast paced world ruled by social media how do you wind down on the weekends and what do you do "behind the scenes in real life" ?
The weekends for our family of 6 is time for watching movies together, going out for dinner and catching up with friends. Our kids like to hang out with us and we are all homebodies.
Was there anything in particular with Gardner and the gang that caught your eye when you first discovered it? And if so, what was that?
The first GATG pieces I saw and purchased were from Hipkin kids. I just loved the sweater dresses for Valentina and once again I was looking for fun and funky clothing which are good quality and long lasting. I’m also obsessed with your bathers, the prints are so fun and and the style fits perfectly.👌🏻
Anything insanely cool you would like to share with the gang?
I would have to say that the 3 instagram accounts that I stumbled across whilst working out the “Instagram” world and fell in love with are @hausofboys @cooldudesnz @accordingtoe These ladies have taught me so much and are my true inspiration behind my pics and are masters at what they do.
